Lets kick things off! I thought what many people think, lets buy a house that needs some work doing to it, it will be cheaper than buying a new house. In fact I did just that. It wasn’t the journey I had envisaged so I thought I would tell you all about my experiences an the lessons I earned. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on it. Hopefully you will benefit from the lessons I learned and I get to show off my nice renovated house ( well I think so anyways!). my other half’s dog does too, sh might have snuck into some pictures!

The house I bought was a mid terraced house build roughly 1900. The house hadn’t had any work done to it for the at least the last 50 years, but the house was dry and solid! a good starting point!

I was lucky I had a lot of help from friends and family. Writing this is going to help say thank you to all the people wo helped me over the last year. Most importantly I had help on deciding on how to move forward. deciding on the best way forward often takes more time than doing the actual job, its all about experience I guess! also the job has to be done within a budget. Hence the whole idea of buying a house that needs work doing to it.

Don’t forget there is inspiration everywhere from other peoples homes to magazines. the most useful I found was the obvious, the internet! I Spent a lot of time on google, hopefully I can save you some time.

My conclusions, everyone should do it, it was fun, I learnt a lot

I hope you have as much fun reading my blog as I did working on my house.
